The late Cde. Mandela will be remembered for tirelessly and selflessly fighting for the liberation of our beloved country. Like others, Cde. Mandela bore the brunt of settlers colonial regime when he was incarcerated at the Robben Island for his political activities.

He played a pivotal role in the pre and post independent South Africa. The life of Nelson Mandela was a life well lived dedicated to the service of our masses and the world.

1. Cde. Nelson Mandela, died being a member and leader of the African National Congress, dedicated his life to the struggle for the liberation of our masses and the people of the world.

2. His humility, compassion and humanity earned him the love and respect of the people of world;

3. His abiding vision dedicated to the building of a united, democratic, non-racial and non-South Africa and just world order;

4. It was this selfless service that earned him the recognition as global statesman and the many accolades bestowed upon him including the esteemed Isithwalandwe-Seaparankwe, Member of the Order of Mapungubwe and the Nobel Peace Prize amongst many others

Comrade Nelson Mandela has left an indelible mark on humanity, ours now is to pick up the baton and continue where he left off. Together we have come far to build the South Africa and his generation envision. Daily we are confronted with challenges in delivering to our people the freedom Cde Mandela lived and died for. Much has been done however much more still remains to be achieved.

The fulfillment of his pledge to liberate our people from the continuing bondage of "poverty, deprivation, suffering, gender and other discrimination" must be the inspiration that guides our people during this time and beyond.

Cde. Mandela`s vision to bring about an equal and just society is the vision of the African National Congress, the two are inseparable. The African National Congress celebrates the life of President Mandela even during this difficult time. It is his life that gives us the courage to push forward for development and progress towards ending hunger and poverty. We say now as we said of him while he was still amongst us.
