ANC Tshwane Regional Conference goes ahead on 1-2 October 2011

ANC Tshwane Regional Conference goes ahead on 1-2 October 2011

27 September 2011

The ANC Gauteng PEC met on Monday 19th September 2011 and gave a go-ahead for Tshwane to proceed with its Regional Conference on the 1 2 October 2011.

The Region has met all the constitutional requirements as outlined in the Conference Guidelines adopted by the Provincial General Council of June 2011.

The Conference will take place at St George`s Hotel in Irene, Tshwane. The conference will be attended by 82 Branches that have been able to convene successful Branch General Meetings in order to elect duly nominated delegates. These branches met in the delegates Regional General Council on Saturday and agreed that they are ready for Conference!

We condemn the reckless statement and delinquent conduct by the ANC Youth League in Tshwane which falsely claim that the ANC Regional Conference is not going ahead. The ANCYL has no authority to decide on whether an ANC Conference can proceed or not. Equally, the Youth League also has no authority to dissolve any structure of the ANC. Such authority is vested in the hands of the PEC of the ANC and no such decisions have been made by the ANC.

We are confident that the Regional Conference will fulfill its constitutional and political mandate of focusing on ways and means to strengthen the ANC`s capacity to implement its manifesto and build better communities in the City of Tshwane.

The Johannesburg Regional Conference will now take place on 7-9th October 2011.
