Mother of Comrade Mmabatho Sekhukhune Passes on at 76

30 November 2011

The late Mrs. Sekgololo Mankidi Sekhukhune who was born in Sehladie-Ga-Mankotsana on 22 October 1935, sadly passed on at the age of 76 on Sunday, 27 November 2011. The African National Congress in Limpopo offers heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and comrades of Mrs. Sekhukhune.

Mrs. Sekhukhune joined the ANC after its unbanning and subsequently became actively involved in the agricultural industry wherein she won a few high profile awards in the fresh produce farming categories.

She was famously known for her discretion and loyalty to the movement during the eighties. It is a well-known fact that a large stash of SACP T-shirts, ANC literature and flags, which were discovered in 1989, had been hidden in the backyard of her home in Sekhukhune during the 1980ís.

Although she also endured the infamous harassment and mistreatment from the notorious Special Branch of the Security Police from Burgersfort, Mrs. Sekhukhune never buckled under the pressure.

The late Mrs. Sekhukhune is survived by Six children and Seven grandchildren.

Funeral proceedings start at 06H30 am on Saturday, 03 December 2011, at Apel-Ga-Mankotsana.
