ANC Party Caucus (Limpopo): call for Tranquillity in Mookgophong

23 August 2012

The ANC Party Caucus in the Limpopo Legislature calls for calm in the community of Mookgophong as the Police Services continue with their investigations into the callous murder of 3 kids last week. As the country is shell-shocked with news of this indiscernible horrendous deed, Hon Lehlogonolo Masoga, Member of the Provincial Legislature, deployed in Mookgophong has made an `impassionate plea` to the people of the area to co-operate with the Police and assist with investigations.

South Africa woke up to the dreadful revelation of the gruesome murders of the Kekana children on Saturday morning. Hon Masoga has said that `the community in his constituency of Mookgophong is still rattled over the news`. "We strongly rebuke this heartless act and want to call upon community members to assist the Police in their investigations, and ensure that the manhunt never ceases until the perpetrators are brought to book. Given the small geographical size of the area, we hope that it will be easy for the Police to effect arrests sooner. "This we do, while we also extend our message of condolence to the affected families and members of the community. We have full confidence in our police service and the rule of law", said Hon Masoga.

The 3 victims who are aged between 9 and 12 years old, have been found bludgeoned to death in the bush in Mookgophong on Saturday morning. They were reportedly staying at a place of safety, on the recommendation of the Social Workers because of their family conditions. Hon Masoga also expressed disappointment at the fact that the kids were reportedly unaccounted for, for a period of 2 days, despite Government having made necessary interventions in their well-being.
